CLOCKIT. — behind the single
by INVERMON
People keep asking me what CLOCKIT. is 'about'. The truth is it's not about a single thing — it's about the sensation of a timer you didn't set going off in the back of your head.
Where it started
A voice memo at 3:04am. Two chords on a broken piano app. Me, mumbling. I sent it to one friend and forgot about it for six weeks. When I came back, it was still the strongest idea in the folder.

Production notes
- Vocals pitched up 4 semitones and re-recorded at speed.
- The 'ticking' is an actual mechanical desk clock in the studio.
- Ambient bed is a re-sampled loop from a discarded 2023 session.
- No compression on the master vocal — that's the raw take.
"if it makes you flinch a little, it's probably right."
— note in my session template
CLOCKIT. is the shortest track on the record and the one that took the longest to trust. That says something.
