WHY THE MASK?

Lemme just go straight to the point here…

I feel like there’s a latent part of the human spirit that seeks protection and certainty to express itself. Unless God himself spoilt you with all the good qualities of man, including and not limited to “self-confidence”, you’d probably feel safer knowing you can keep a part of yourself to yourself.

I can’t promise you that I know what I’m doing with these masks, but I go where my spirit leads me. Even when I think I’ve got a perfect mask drawn, I still leave it up to some spidey sense in craftsmanship. Everything can communicate a message or become a subtle punctuation in said message.

Also, in a world full of technology and surveillance, how do you truly stand out in a room full of faces? Really? Especially if you’re in a room where everyone bears your skin tone. What makes you stand out and yet stand guard?

The mask.

Out the bag. On the face. Wait ten seconds. Confirm what it is you want to be able to do and then, go.

Even as I say this, it’s important to note that the mask is not the man, nor the man the mask. The vessel will always be more, or at least have the potential to work its way up to surpass what the mask can achieve. The mask works just like any other recreational drug; it highlights, amplifies the vessel. It isn’t the vessel, but an expression of its truth.
